In January, the school climbing club won the Bradford Schools Climbing Competition at Appleton Academy for the second year running.  TSS entered two teams, Team Denys and Team Titus, made up of Year 7 and 8 students, coming a fantastic first and second place.  It was a great day full of climbing with two elements to the competition.

Firstly, speed climbing, where groups of three had to see how many times they could climb a particular route in 10 minutes, one group flew up their route an impressive thirteen times!  Then there was a session of scored climbing with the teams scored according to how “cleanly” they could complete specific climbs.

Club Leader, Mr Stewart said: “It was a whole team effort which was great to see. The majority of the team only started climbing in September so it was a fantastic for them to be able to show off the skills and techniques they’d been practising week in week out at climbing club.”

For many members of the club this was their first experience of competitive climbing. Well done to everyone involved.
