Local parents and their young children in Roberts Park were amazed and impressed by the creativity of our Year 8 Performing Arts students when they painted the ‘Graffiti’ wall in the children’s play area. Tag designs created in lessons inspired their work, which took three days to complete. Learning new art skills and being challenged to extend their learning by taking it from their books in the classroom to paint a real wall gave the students an exciting and rewarding experience.
Zara Malik spoke for everyone when she said ‘I would like to do more of this again, it’s fun! We made more stencils and learned how to use spray paint’. Mel Smith, Roberts Park Manager, collaborated with us and was happy to support the work of the students by preparing and coating the wall with masonry paint before they started.
