Learners attend workshop at prestigious University

Fifteen aspiring chemists attended an Analysis and Spectroscopy Workshop in December at Leeds University.

Firstly our Year 13 learners had a tour around the Chemistry building. Post-graduate students then presented their research to them before commencing the workshop which saw our learners use a range of analytical techniques such as infrared spectroscopy and thin-layer chromatography to identify an unknown pain killer.

The workshop was challenging but very interesting and our learners experienced the university labs and equipment; a very worthwhile visit to enhance our A-level Chemistry topics.

We are a great school with great aspirations; proud of our history and heritage yet always looking to the future. The two years in Sixth Form are probably the most important in your education and will determine the path you take in life.

There has never been a better time to study in our Sixth Form: our school has excellent facilities, offers a wide choice of courses and our A-level results remain in the top 10% nationally. We are very proud of our students’ achievements with the overwhelming majority progressing to university or directly into a career. This reflects the strong sense of dedication, care and support we offer.

Our Sixth Form curriculum offers opportunities for high achievement and a range of experiences in a friendly and caring atmosphere.

We offer a wide range of subjects to meet both the interests and potential of our learners.

In order to support learners through the UCAS process, application for apprenticeships and other options once they leave school, we have put together a guide, together with links to the most important web pages, which we hope you will find useful.

KS5 Performance Information - August 2017

It was a pleasure to see our Year 13 leaners return for their A Level and Vocational Level results which once again are in line with the national average with learners gaining an average A Level score of a grade C and significantly achieving a grade A/B for Vocational subjects. After an anxious couple of hours on results day for two learners awaiting notification from “Clearing”, we have 100% of our leaners going on to study at University they applied for and all others going on to apprenticeship, college or employment.

At the Denys Salt Sixth Form we have lots of enrichment activities that help to develop and widen your interests and also broaden your understanding. All Sixth Form learners participate in some aspect of our enrichment programme. The menu is broad and diverse and evolves in line with what learners want to do.

Our Enrichment Programme includes:

Our school days are an important part of a lifelong journey of learning and discovery. It is great to hear when a former leaner has just achieved their degree in their chosen subject or that one has secured employment in their chosen career. If you are a former learner, we would love to hear from you. Please email prs@titussaltschool.co.uk

Here we catch up with some of our former learners.
