Emily James, Year 8, spent her school summer holidays raising funds for Marie Curie in memory of her aunt.

Reading is something Emily enjoys so she decided to set herself a target to read ten books before she came back to school, and get sponsored to do so.  Emily started by reading ‘The World’s Worst Children’ by David Walliams on 23 July and  surpassed her target. Her justgiving page stands at over £800, which is an amazing achievement.

Emily said ‘My auntie Sarah was very kind and caring. I was very sad when I heard she had died so I decided that in memory of her I would raise some money for the hospice that looked after her, my uncle Darren and my two cousins.'

Sharon Link, Bradford Hospice Community Fundraiser said, ‘We can’t thank Emily enough for her support. It’s always lovely to see young people doing things like this. Marie Curie cares for people living with a terminal illness, and their families and all our care is free so we rely heavily on the support of people like Emily.’
