Last week Ms Bennett took a group of Year 7 and 8 pupils to Madni Jamia mosque in Thornbury. The mosque had an open day as part of National Interfaith Week, which is all about promoting community cohesion, tolerance and respect between people of different faiths.

Our guide Nadeem allowed our pupils to observe afternoon prayers, taught them about key teachings from Islam including equality of all creation, and helped them re-enact circling the Kaaba, which is a key practice as part of the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca.

Our pupils were keen to volunteer in demonstrations and asked lots of thoughtful questions. Well done to all who attended and thank you to Nadeem and the community at Madni Jamia mosque.
