Every year when Year 6 pupils join us for Transition Day we invite them to take part in our Summer Reading Challenge and every year we are dazzled by their dedication and enthusiasm to the challenge.

There are two separate challenges to choose from, this means there is something for everyone. An example of tasks from the Star challenge include, reading up to three books, making a list, mind map or Wordle of everything they know about one of the characters in one of the books, plus writing a review about another. The Superstar challenge is a little harder, pupils have to read up to five books, rewrite the ending of one of the books so it is completely different to the original and write a diary entry from the perspective of one of the minor characters; reflecting on the events in the story.

We had some amazing entries this year and our panel of judges were very impressed by the standard of work. There were ten prize winners, all receiving fantastic prizes ranging from vouchers, Kindles and video cameras with the top prize being a tablet won by Thomas James, a former pupil at Baildon C of E School.

Well done to all the avid readers who enjoyed the Summer Reading Challenge and congratulations to all our finalists.
